The Baraadsar Lake Trek leads to the mystical and “wish-fulfilling” Baraadsar Lake at an impressive altitude of 4,300 meters. Situated within the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, it is one of the region’s lesser-known virgin treks, offering stunning alpine meadows, dense forests, challenging ridges, and panoramic Himalayan views. Known locally for its supernatural significance, the lake is embraced by high ridges separating the Rupin and Supin valleys, making this trek a thrilling yet profound Himalayan journey.
The trail takes you through a mesmerizing mix of dense forests, mystical meadows, and high-altitude rocky ridges, providing constantly shifting breathtaking vistas. The trek becomes more rugged as you approach the barren ridge dividing Rupin and Supin valleys, with boulders and sweeping snow-covered peaks creating a rugged alpine landscape.
Baraadsar Lake holds a sacred place in local lore, believed to have the power to fulfill wishes. This spiritual allure adds a unique dimension to your trekking experience. Alongside, interaction with local Garhwali culture and myths enriches the journey.
This is a moderate to difficult trek, suitable for moderately experienced trekkers or fit beginners prepared for steady climbs and high altitudes. Acclimatization is essential, particularly near the summit and lake area. Proper trekking gear for sub-zero nights and fluctuating mountain weather is strongly advised.
