The Buran Ghati Trek is an exhilarating high-altitude trek situated in Himachal Pradesh, known for its diverse landscapes, dense forests, alpine meadows, roaring rivers, and a thrilling crossing of the Buran Ghati Pass at 15,000 ft (4,570 m). Originating from the quaint village of Janglik, this challenging trail traverses some of the most pristine and undisturbed Himalayan wilderness, rewarding trekkers with panoramic views of the Kinner Kailash range and abundant wildlife.
The trek offers a perfect blend of forest walks, meadows layered with wildflowers, and rugged high mountain passes.
Dare to cross the Buran Ghati Pass, a thrilling climb that in summer includes rappelling down a 400-meter ice wall and a technical descent requiring ropes, ice axe, and careful guidance.
Witness sacred destinations like Chandranahan Lake, revered in local lore, and the scenic Dayara Meadows — a paradise of horses and Himalayan flora.
Camp at remote and picturesque sites such as Litham, Dhunda, and alongside pristine rivers, enveloped by the raw solitude of the Himalayas.
With steep ascents, snow-covered sections, and technical descents, Buran Ghati is moderate to difficult, recommended for trekkers with some experience and strong physical conditioning. Acclimatization and proper equipment are essential for safety and enjoyment. The use of ropes and expert guidance is mandatory on the pass.
Ideal trekking seasons are May to June for snow and ice experiences and September to October for autumn colors and clear skies. Avoid winter (heavy snow, inaccessible) and monsoon (landslides risk).
