The Rupin Supin Trek is one of the least explored but profoundly beautiful trekking routes located in the north-west corner of Uttarakhand. It offers trekkers the chance to visit two spectacular valleys—the Rupin and Supin—within a single journey. This trek takes you through majestic snow-covered mountains, dense pine forests, serene riversides, and charming hamlets steeped in Garhwali culture. It combines natural splendor with cultural immersion on an easy to moderate trail suitable for beginners and families.
Trekking along the Rupin and Supin Rivers, the route winds through rich pine forests, high ridges, and vibrant meadows, delivering stunning vistas at every turn. Highlights include glimpses of the Kinnaur Kailash range, crystal-clear glacial streams, and panoramic mountain views—all within a diverse ecological setting.
The trek passes through traditional Garhwali villages such as Bitari, known for its multi-storied temple perched dramatically on a mountainside and its active local community. This offers a rare opportunity to witness and appreciate local culture and lifestyle far from the usual tourist path.
With an altitude reaching approximately 3,800 meters and moderate trails, the Rupin Supin trek is accessible to school groups, families, and novice trekkers. The trail demands light to moderate physical fitness and requires proper gear to handle occasional sub-zero temperatures.
Travelers are advised to pack efficiently, with backpacks ideally not exceeding 10–12 kg. Support from experienced local guides ensures a safe, enjoyable experience, blending adventure with comfort across all campsites.
